VITAMIN-A DEFICIENCY AWARENESS AND DISTRIBUTION OF VITAMIN-A CAPSULES

Eye camp as part of the ProgramThis programme was conducted in 10 villages of Chitvel Block, with the grant- in-aid received from “Task Force Sight and Life, Switzerland”.

 GHEC organized Eye Health care Awareness camps in the 10 villages.  Eminent and prominent doctors who are the specialists in Eyes and Opthalmists as well as Medical and Health Department personnel participated in this programme in consensus.  They conducted Eye-tests and prescribed suitable medicines and glasses.  They made diagnosis of various Diseases.  Ex:- Cataract, xerophthalmia, Bulging, white spots, partial blindness, total blindness, Night blindness, turning gray and Diarrhea etc.,

‘GHEC’ distributed Vitamin-A capsules to the young children from 3 months to 6 years those are suffering from vitamin-A deficiency.  Each Vitamin-A capsules for oral Use is worth of 200,000 I.U.  It is used for the children after one year.  We gave the Vitamin-A capsules worth of 100,000 I.U. for the babies below the age of one year.  We taught the value of Nutrition food for Eye-Health as well as general health. 

 We taught values of Breast feeding which is the first feeding and the best feeding as well as the must feeding to the child.
